good & bad news.
Good news, my dad said he's willing pay to get my 289 rebuilt
. Bad news, I will not be building my 408 afterall. I dont think its really "bad" news because, beeing a TEEN, I'll most likely end up killing myself with a 408
. Plus I can always do that later. Besideds, I can fix other stuff like paint and suspension with the rest of the $$mula$$.
here are my mods I already have done on my 289:
-intake
-carb
-exhaust
-ignition system
.. this should let me burm some rubber once i get all my compression back
im probably going to get a better cam and headers and thats it, for performance.

I havea T5 rated at 400 hp and 400 lbs of torque for my 400 hp and 500lbs (both rear wheel) stroker 408. I destroyed the pinion shaft on my 8" and now I'm building a 9" unit. Once I get that done and the shocks and traction bars installed and get the thing to hook up, I'm expecting to break this tranny too. Hopefully I'll be able to swap someone fortoploader.
Haha, unfortunately some of us younger guys consider the speed limit slightly... "optional"
I've had quite a few close calls... just one of those things about being young and thinking you're bullet proof!

Read this link and consider rebuilding your motor like this - PLENTY of torque and hp for your Mustang.

If your old man is footing the bill for this build, I would suggest getting a crate 302 setup. It will be less expensive and less hassle in the long run, or even the short run. Bag the 289 for posterity.
302's are cheap money comparitively speaking and they have a factory build. Really wish I had gone that route instead of building my old 351.
For what it's worth.
