Monte Carlo Bar & Air Conditioner?
I don't know why, but that curved MC bar would not fit with my AC with the 289. Maybe there are different manufacturers of these things with different bends but I left the one I bought off because it hit the compressor. I looked and looked but couldn't figure a way to get everything to squeeze in. One of the fun things about these cars...what should work, doesn't always.
Place the bar behind the dist. this will require shorting the bar. measure and cut difference from the center of the bar and reweld. this is what i did. it also dows a better job due to using compression on the bar vs shear on the mount bolts for shock tower flex. see my gallery for example on how i did the end mounts.

Whoa - don't spend money on a Sanden until you can try it. I am installing a Classic Auto Air system, which uses a Sanden, and I have exactly the same problem. The brackets hold the Sanden fairly high up, and the back of it contacts the curve of the bar long before it lines up with the holes. (351 - well, 392 stroker - in a '68).
The only answer I can see is to weld up or somehow fabricate a bar myself, which will never look as good as the shop-made device. This is a pain, as I'd had the bar powdercoated to suit the rest of the underbonnet, and now can't use it!
Have you found an answer yet?
