As popular as Fastbacks are, finding a parts car is going to be difficult. You may, no - you will be better off listing what parts you need.

Well im probably going to need alot I know theres some rusted threw spots on just about all side and the front of the hoods like peeling apart. Im sure it needs a new tranny its been sitting for 25 years the intake vent infront of the windshield had about a buckets woth of pineneedles in it , i cleanedthat out but water leakes into the driver side floor when we tested if it leaks, how would I fix that??. surprisingly the floor pans were solid and are fine. It needs a new gas tank and once i get that hopefully it will start. I hope to have it running by the end of the summer. unfortunalty it only has a straight 6, im just goin to focus on getting it running now and in the future put some power under the hood. ill try to put a pic up tomorrow

Matt, I am going to give you some advice from an old man who has been there, and done that. You have a project car that will never be worth more than you put into it, so don't expect it to be worth the amount of money that you put into it. Think of it as project and a hole into which you pour money to satisfy your need to turn wrenches and learn about automotive things that were prevalent back in the 60's. What you will learn will not be worth a tinkers damn in this modern world, but at least you will have a hobby that you can drive.
I just drove Ol' Yeller to Austin today (28 miles one way) and played my tuba at a concert in the central park. She ran beautifully, and I even managed to pass a few slow cars on a two lane road.

You know my dadtold methe exact same thing as you. I just love the old muscle cars and its always been a dream too have one. Ive grown up around this car and have always wanted to do this my entire life. Now that im bout to drive I can finally do it. even thought you are rightit has alot of sentimental value to me, and I cant wait to drive my hobby. I have been thinking though, should I follow through or should I save up for a nice modern car I can modify some???

I love some of the new cars out there, but man they are getting expensive. Nothing like putting your own sweat into an old one and cruising it.

Well..... for me that is an easy slam dunk. I'd keep the fastback, they are getting very hard to come by and will only keep increasing in scarcity (they were always my favorite design) and rebuild it. The good thing is that you will definately get to know every nut and bolt of your car. However, if you dodecide to sell it I am sure that "Valley Firearms" will be wanting your F/B ! If you keep it you'll come to love it ( and hate it somedays as it will sometimes give you fits- but that is the fun of these old cars, isn't it?) If you want something that you can go drive and modify as you go then check on Craigslist and find a newer 5.0 Mustang that is partially hopped up already. You'll be ahead of the game already if that is the path you choose.
