Progress today
Since today was nice and I had some time I got started on the floor pans, I only made one mistake I cut alittle too much off of the transmission tunnel (nothing alittle patch cant fix though) and the welds are kinda sloppy, but for my first time ever doing anything like this I'd say it turned out pretty well. Like my dad said, you will always learn from mistakes so when I do the drivers side next weekend I wont make the same mistakes. Keep in mind when you look at the pics I didnt weld the whole thing in yet, I ran out of day light and time to finish. I also pulled the truck lid off early this morning and got it all grinded down and sanded smooth, then primed it up.

Looks good! Are you going to weldaround the whole floorpan? or justput a few strips of weldto hold it then and put sealer to make it solid? Just curoius, as the PO did the back seat floorpans on mine and doesnt look like he did to good of a job, cut the old out, layed the new in, overlapped, and sealed( no welding as i can see from the bottom) , Im lucky the fronts arent rusted at all. -Jon
Yeah, next weekend I plan to go around the whole pan, then put on the seam sealer (havent picked it up yet thats why its not on the welds I did today) Trust me it wasnt easy to get my old floor out, the prevous owner cut and welded all over the place and over lapped old floors to the new pieces, it was a huge mess. But since I got one side the other should be a piece of cake
haha atleast I hope so, It looks like I may need to replace the sailboat in the framerail tho. I have the parts I just dont want to do that haha.

The framerail itself is strong, but the sailboat is messed up but I cant just replace one, so do you guys think it needs it?

Good job. You will get better at welding the more you do.
I would replace that floor support. And you might check the front torque boxes.

Sanding off alittle bit of primer then welding is always better than grinding off rust
I got a question...I bought that 68 I mentioned awhile back and the doors are perfect no rust, cranks work, glass is great, everythings good. I have my 67 doors now they have all the stuff for the windows and what not but none of it is install, but the doors have minor rust on the skin. I was painting the hinges to the 68 and i took them out to my 67 and they are different....can I just use the 68 hinges with the 68 doors?
Good work. What did you use to take the old floor pans out? I have to do the same thing. I'm dreading it though. Did you remove the gas line or anything underneath? I'd correct the framerail while you have great access to it, It would suck to have to do it in the future. You might be able to get a framerail extention and just cut the sailboat piece out and replace.
I just used my angle grinder and put a cutting wheel on it, I just cut small sections at a time. When I bought mine it was completely gutted so, no I didnt remove anything other than the emergency brake cable.
