Spindles Spindles...what to do...
I have been investigating different options in drum to disk swaping.
I had pretty much decided to buy a new package set up when along came a guy about 50 miles away offering me a set of granada spindles for $150 bucks...
I said I would let him know...and today he emails me that he will take $120 for them.
sigh....what to do what to do.....
I am figuring the spindles are the hardest thing to get for the granada swap...is that right?

Once you get the spindles, you still need; caliper mounting plates, splash shields, rotors, bearings, seals, caliper, hoses, and pads....Oh don't forget your mounting hardware too. If you get those then that will be one of the major parts, then you can go to autozone to get the rest.
I'm very pleased with the result of my Granada swap. In fact, I haven't heard of any spindles failing, but would almost like to have a second pair around. If you don't end up chasing them, perhaps I'll take them off his hands. I imagine needing one, (or both) and being S.O.L. until I'm able to locate a replacement pair. Anyone ever hear of a failure of the spindles? Mine have been an excellent modification. Very pleased.
Well the disk conversion is definatly going to happen...
I was mainly wondering if $120 is a good deal for spindles.
Maybe it is, but it would still be more cost effective to go for the complete kit...I dont know.
What I want to avoid is spending $120 for the spindles, then find out it will cost me another $500 for the rest of the parts....in that case, I should just hold off and buy the disk swap kit.
See what Im sayin?

You don't want to piece meal the swap. You will be running yourself ragged trying to put all the parts together from various donor cars and deals out there. Then you have to overhaul those old parts and run to the store to get this and that fitting etc. Unless you have a lot of time on your hands to put into this project my suggestion is that you contact Dennis and get the whole kit for under 600. When it's all said and done, you will have put that much in the used parts anyway.
Thank you sir...thats good advise...exactly what I was looking for.
If anyone wants the email of the guy who has the spindles...for spares let me know.
he is in Charlotte, NC and one week ago he wanted $150...today its $120...I bet hewill take offers.

Granada swaps have been a piecemealing exercise for the last 20 years. The spindles, caliper brackets and dust shields are the hard items to acquire..the rest is standard autozone parts. No overhauling necessary. Here's the how to and list of parts (by part number)
Price it all out, then make your decision.

This is the complete set of parts. The only overhauling needed would be to wirebrush and paint the spindles, caliper brackets and dust shields. Purchase rebuilt calipers and new rotors, and of course new hardware. There's really not that much to it.
