Default montecarlo bar

i know this has been asked before, but im slow and need it explained several times.
I've got a 67 stang and was wondering what a monte carlo bar would do for me as far as stiffening front end, and giving me 1/4 of an inch more room for headers.

The unit body shock towers on these old cars were weak even right out of the factory, and especially after rust does its' thing. So, they bend in toward the engine bay and throw the symmetry off. The Monte Carlo bar keeps the shock towers out to where they should be so that they don't bend inward. That's what is meant about stiffening the front end. It and the export brace are the cheapest and most effective way to strengthen your front end. I am a purist, but I have them on my 65.

Just because you have the export brace does not affect the 'purity' of the car. It was a FACTORY installed item an all Falcon and Mustangs that were exported..hench the name.....because the Europeans would not buy the cars with they pathetic handling of the stock USA version. I installed the brace first (in 1967) and was amassed at the improvement in the way the car drove. On the 65 we even removed the original mounting brackets for the stock tower-to-wall brace. Have you ever seen the convertable braces installed on a coupe/fastback? Some in the auto-cross crowd years ago would put them in along with the export/Monti-Carlo set-up. They said it helped but I never tried it.
