Default Putting headers on, Starter is in way!

Is there a special starter I have to get to make my 302 headers fit? Theyre hugging the starter at the moment in a dangerous way...

When you get done, look on the bright side - you have something to catch the starter in case it comes loose.

If it doesn't fit and you like the headers, get a mini starter that can be clocked.

I got a smaller starter for a late model stang, and ran the cable down like normal to the starter, then ran a jumper wire across to the starter(late model) selenoid from where the fender selenoid cable connects to the starter power source(late model starters have 2 terminals, one for power, then one for the selenoid on the starter to receive signal from the switch, so the wire is jumped from one terminal to the other on the starter). Otherwise, you'll have a fight on your hands trying to change starters. Worked for a long time so far, and man, it's a lot lighter too!!!

The aftermarket ones are pretty pricey, but better, so I just went with a stock late model 5.0 standard unit, not a high torque one
