so i'm replacing the water pump
Buy a quality one and not a cheaply reman unit. Nothing will ruin your day like the pump spitting the shaft into your radiator. BTDT ... twice! [:@]
[edit] Be careful not to overtighten (strip) or cross-thread the bolts into the soft timing cover. Starting with a new set of bolts is nice, especially if yours are old and crusty.

oh yeah and I've heard that some hose has a spring in it that keeps it from colapsing in on itself under high pressure. What is it called and where is it located and where can I get one?

will any bolts that match work?? or do I need special water pump bolts?

Get a piece of cardboard and trace the outline of the new waterpump on it. Use a pencil to poke holes where the bolts go. Remove them in order off your motor and put them in the corresponding hole in the cardboard template.
They are various lengths and otherwise you'll not remember where they go.
