Default Greatest Movie Car Chases

I check out this site off and on and today's latest is entitled 'Link Latte #7'. In the list of links is one with videos and a web-surfers voting section of the 'Greatest car chases in movie history'. The last time I looked -Number one was Bullitt, (number two was the Blues Brothers).
Take a look. http://thrillingwonder.blogspot.com/

Bullitt had better be #1 - it was WAYYYY ahead of its time for car chases!

Hello.Has anybody seen the movie Vanishing Point ? It has this guy Kowalski (Barry Newman) hammering a 70 Challenger throughout the entire movie. The whole movie is one long car chase. It rocks.

I was thinking Bullit, Vanishing Point, Ronin, the Italian Job, the original Gone in 60 Seconds, the remake of Gone in 60 Second all come to mind.

I agree, Ronin and Bullitt, but the music in the Blues Brothers is outstanding.

Italian job (the orginial one Micheal Cain not the crappy US remake) is the best no doubt.

Anyone seen the new movie Grindhouse? In Deathproof theres a pretty cool chasescene with a charger and a challenger through some country backroads. The fake previews between the movies are hilarious by the way, especially "Thanksgiving".

When I was in Gitmo on USS Vreeland in 1972 I ran the ships entertainment and was showing an 'r' rated movie on the helo-deck that had a LOT of T&A. The ship across the pier from us was showing BULLITT and most of the guys were watching it instead of our movie!
McQueen was a fanatic for realism and that chase is IMHO the best and most true-to-life of any hollywood car chase.
