c4 or c6

Glen, I restore, I don't make a habit of changing camshafts daily, so a transmission swap takinga C6 and putting it into a C4 size engine is something I don't usually get involved with. I've read other postings and there were mentions of swaps of that nature. A C6 is larger, so it may not fit the tunnel in any case, so my question is more curosity than to do an actual swap. So back to the original question, are the transmission to engine bolt patterns the same on a 289/302/351 as a 390/428 etc?

289/302/351 have small block bell housing
390/428 is big block
Since the c6 has an integral bell housing (read not bolt on like c4) there are big block and small block c6 transmissions.
For the record also, a small block c6 trans will fit in a 65 mustang with the correct cross member and no modifications to the trans tunnel despite the fact that it is larger than the c4.
Thanks. I've seen claims the but I've been under the impression that the swap was not possible. Now for the record, what cars and what yearhad a small block C6 transmission? This would prove valuable to those looking for that kind of swap. One of the reasons that I bring this up is I grew up with the absolute 100 percent guaranteed belief that two identical cars, setup the same, with two identical engines, but one with a four speed manual and the other with an automatic (three speed) transmission that the four speed would do a quarter mile faster and quicker. Time has proved me to be wrong. An automatic transmission has consistantly beat a four speed, not 100 pct of the time, but enough times to indicate an automatic is better. (Boy is that statement going to cause havoc.)
So have at it.

Ok so this isa C4 then, i have it hooked up to a ratchet shifter and it seems pretty peppy i have a 302 hooked up to it. I can still use this for everyday use and try to haul @ss with it? or should i get tranny with overdrive ?
