Default No turning back

Well, I decided to go the 347 route, the machine shop M2 Race systems has a deposit and the stroker kit has been ordered, the block has been tanked and magnafluxed, they will clearance the motor and will need the flywheel and harmonic balancer in order to balance the motor. The costs add up so quick. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips for flywheel or damper ie. Should I go aluminum flywheel? Should I buy a fluid damper? Any thoughts would would be appreciated. After these steps then Im thinking about AFR 185 heads.

An aluminum flywheel??? I guess I am just aged too much to grasp how an aluminum flywheel would last more that one start. [&:]

the aluinum flywheels will last because they have a steel ring grear and contact surface which is also removable. They are about half the weight of a steel flywheel with about twice the cost. you will also see better throdle responce with them. I plan to use one when I do my 347.

Yes, you get real great throttle response with a lightened flywheel. On the other end of the spectrum, lots of stalls due to an equally quick engine rpm wind down. The effect is called 'stalling'. The solution - lots more reving involved to keep the enging running.

There are two lines of thinking here.
One, a lighter flywheel will add response...which it will...
Two, a heavier flywheel will add Inertia that will help stop the loss of RPM during a shift.

So what do you want to do...smoke em off the line...or pass then shifting into second?

In my opinion, the iron flywheel would be the safest bet for a 347.You will have little worry about throttle response with a mill like that.If you feel you must have the aluminum one,go with the fluid damper.youll need all the help you can get with vibration control.
