first car show
I participated in my first car show yesterday. There was one other mustang there. It was a 1970 Mach 1 with a cleveland. That is the same car I could have bought 5 years ago in Eagle River for $10,000. I seen it at a paint shop where I was doing an inspection. The owner of the paint shop was aggrivated with the owner because he didn't want to fix the rust issues in the driver quarter panel correctly. The paint shop owner told me it had a windsor and I thought that was way to much money for a 70 with a windsor. That was 5 years ago. I talked to the guy who ownes it now and he paind over $20,000 for it. He just had to replace the engine and it sounds good. The orange paint on the car is the factory original paint job. It has never been repainted. He said there have been a few touch up here and there.
The car show was pretty cool. There were no prizes, only participation gifts and raffles. I got to know a few people and got some info on a car club. After the car show I seen two other Mach 1's cruising around. It's amazing what comes out on a nice day. After the event I drove home and tore out my 8" and installed the 9". All I am lacking is mounting the brake lines to the rear, u-joints, and gear oil. I need to go and get some royal purple 80-90 synthetic. That already has the limited slip additive in it. I will post my burn out results later this evening

I'ts pretty easy until you run into problems like I am having. The yoke is smaller on the 9" and now my u-joints don't fit.

Well, after three trips into town I finally figured out that it took the factory u-joints. Someone made the combo switch in the past. Here I was thinking the yoke was an odd size and it was right all along. I have bled the brakes and taken her down off the jack stands. I loaded up my daughter and her two friends (maybe 200 between them all) and now my tires rub. I jacked her back up and tightened the factory shackles thinking that would help. It does until I push down on the rear. Here I am sitting here chomping at the bit to take her for a spin and I can't. For now on if anything goes right I'm going to think it was an accident. Any ideas? My springs have 5 leafs and don't look that old. I'm not saying they aren't fatigued but they look good.

[align=left]The rear squats lower now. The width of the rears are the same. It is a 70 or 71 rear. I have the COYS wheels and I forget the specifics on those. I will look tomorrow.
I fabricated a piece of steel to brace the bottom of the shackle to the frame rail. The frame rail has a series of holes and I used one of those. I did the passenger side due to it being the worst. I jacked the body up until the shackle was plumb then I attacked the strap. It keeps the shackle from moving back and forth. Now I just have to do the driver's side. I took her out for a drive and was very impressed with the off the line capability. This is just temporary until I get new leafs.
