Drum Tweaking
Gonna make this a short post...not gonna get into the whole explaining deal.
But i'm having trouble with my brakes, My FrontLeft pulls first when i brake, but once i brake harder, my car begins to veer right. I dont understand how the car veers left than Right. I had a problem with the car veering to the right a month ago, but i fixed that by replacing the rear cylinder on the left side which was busted...causing the left to function at 50%...now that i've fixed the rear cylinder, the brakes should be braking equally...but they are not. I've tweaked the distance of the shoes for 2 weeks now trying to align the shoes in the correct position so that the brakes brake equally...but i cannot get it done. It seems the more that i try to fix it, the more awkward the brakes get. Any ideas on how to measure how much i should adjust the shoe distance from the drum?

pfttt.id love to get disc brakes but they come at a nice price tag. One which i cannot afford....so therefore im reducded to fiddling with my drum brakes.
@Horse--i dont think mine automatically adjust, ive read about them supposedly adjusting automatically, but as far as i know mine dont.
@69mach--could you explain that in a bit more detail? I dont quite get what youre talking about in some things, such as "listen for rubbing and how quickly they slow down" are you referring to how quickly the brakes slow down or how quickly the rubbing noise comes in?

With both tires up off the ground, spin the tires equally and time them to full stop. Also listen to the shoes rubbing on the drums.
Remove the rubber plug from the oval hole to access the adjustment 'star' or gear shaped thing. Rotate them one way or the other until both tires have equal slowing resistance. Pump the brakes a couple of time and see if things change.
Repeat again, but if they cannot be equalized, then something probably needs replacing...like a wheel cylinder or brake hardware or ???
