1972 Mach 1 Question
Hello to all,
I just joined the club today.Need to learn a lot, but hope that I can contribute in the future. My question is regarding a 1972 Mach 1, 351 Q code. The seats are upohlstered in a more blocked pattern than the tuck and roll pattern. The seats, both front buckets and rear benchpattern reminds me of the door vinyl design. Were there different seat appearanceoptions? I believe the tuck and roll is a weaved material with solid vinyl borders. This car is a sportsroof and is red with black accent stripes. The hood is blacked out with "351 Ram Air" on each side of the scoops. Appreciate any ideas!
Thanks much,
Charlie

Welcome...
Four types of seat upholstry were offered in 1972:
1) standard vinyl
2)Mach 1 luxury
3)deluxe cloth
4)comfortweave knitted vinyl
If you have a true Mach 1 (05 in the VIN), you would have either 1 or 2. Mach 1 luxury seats have some extra vertical section of material sewn in the seat back, sometimes a two-tone design. Have any pics?

Thanks very much for your excellent info.I purchased a 1972 Mach1 Q code yesterday. It's red with black interior. Does not have many options, such as the interior isstandard vinyl, no air, am radio only. It's a very clean survivor, numbers matching.I have ordered a deluxe Marti reportto document the complete history. As far asI can see, the only non original piece is the steering wheel. Any thoughts ona good place to find one? Again, thanks for your help. You helped me identify the interior characteristic.

As far as I know, your steering wheel has not been reproduced. Your best bet is to get one from a wreck. InStockton is Mustangs Plus. They have had a variety of used parts off and on. You also might want to go the Mustang Club of America car show at Buchanan Field in Concord on the 22nd to the 24th of June. There may be someone there that has some parts, contacts or ideas.
