Smoked Taillights
even if you do get caught, the no seat belts / cat stuff is okay cuz teh car is registerd as pre cats/3 point belts required. check out some of the 350 race cars, they have blacked out head lights, i think it looks kinda cool, if I ever get the chance to make my car a terlingua clone or something of the like i would do that...but the tails? they look great as is IMO.
It's something stupid to do on a classic. Besides that fact that the lights just aren't that bright to begin with. I can see doing it on a 05-07 Mustang, but not the old ones. I agree with the others, if you want to make a ricer, get an import.

Hello.
The no seat belts thing is only for cars built prior to 1966. Starting in 66 all cars built in America came with seat belts so you have to have them. If you have the car registered as an antique, you can only drive it in parades, shows, that sort of thing. If your car is registered as an antique, you get pulled over, and you have groceries in the back seat or something, then you have a problem.
But, back to the topic at hand, the smoked headlights look pretty retarded on a car built in the 60s. The taillights are dim to begin with, so if you smoke them out, that's begging to get rear ended. People already can't see when you're signaling a turn most of the time, so smoking them out is just asking for trouble. And that's during the day. At night, you'ld get clobbered for sure in no time flat. So, if someone does happen to notice that you A) even have taillights and B) have them smoked out, the first thing that pops into their head will be ' This guy is an idiot' not 'That sure looks cool' But, I could be wrong.

To clarify the seat belt scenario, at least in California, all, repeat all cars must be equipped with seat belts - no exceptions. You want to drive it on the roads, you must have seat belts. As for Mustangs, all 1965 Mustangs had front seat belts. Note - front. This applied to all cars. All 66 cars had to have front and rear seat belts. All 67 cars had to have front and rear and front shoulder harnesses were optional. All 68 and on were to be equipped with front belts and harnesses and rear belt. They were some of the most uncomfortable pieces of torture equipment put into any car.

I had to testify in court about this. The DA and the cop (arresting officer - sorry)were totally ignorant about 66 and 67 requirements. Typical.

tinting of the headlights and tailights are illegal so are euro tailights that dont have a dot number on them most cars dont enforce it tho. kentucky law on seat belts is 1965 and older you cant get a ticket since most of them didnt have seat belts. the 65 impala i had i got a ticket for no seat belt in gotta love rookie cops. i had to go to court the judge yelled at the cop for not reading his little law book on seat belts lol ticket was thrown out
