if it was an automatic it wouldve been in park

A similar thing happened a few years ago, when a trucker, with a load of fully restored 1960s Porsches decided to take a shortcut across a railroad crossing. The truck didn't have enough ground clearance, so it bottomed out and got stuck on the train tracks. A train came along and, well, you can figure out what happened. Damge was probably in the millions of dollars. I'd hate to be any of those truck drivers. I hope the guy was insured.
