The backspacing is way too deep to fit on a classic chassis.

Yeah Soaring is right, I thought of doing the same thing because you can get a set for dirt cheap right now. After doing alot of research they will fit on your car but only after almost 2 inches of spacers which will cause all sorts of problems. The average backspacing run on the classics is about 4.5" but the backspacing on the new 05+ wheels its 5.795, or something close to that I don't quite remember, but way too much to be worth it. It will be cheaper buying the american racing wheels instead of buying the spacers and a neg wedge kit and everything else needed for the 05 wheels.

And yes the bolt pattern is the same for 5 lug mustangs.

Spend few Dollars more and get nice set of wheels with correct back spacing in to your car. I did choose set Vintage Wheel Works V45 wheels 17x7.

I've got 04 bullitt rims on mine the backspacing on the older rims aren't quite as bad but still a bit further than most people will like.

According to this month's Mustang Monthly article, Mustang Steve runs Bullits (not sure which year) with a small spacer (5/8"?) in the rear. For the fronts, I think he had them narrowed 1" and runs them without a spacer. If you can get cheap take-offs, I think this swap would pencil. If your starting price isn't low, however, you'll likely lose out after spending the $300 or so to have the front wheels narrowed.

Good luck!

I never though about narrowing the Bullits. Yeah, if you can pick up a set at the junk yard for a fair nickel and have them narrowed so you don't have to use spacers, that would look bitchin'. I sometimes wonder how my 03 Mach wheels would look like on my 65.
