Default New guy with questions.

Hello all,
I am starting to work on my 1973 sportroof again and have a few questions? I am rebuilding the 351C 2v and looking for ideas. I want to build it for street not really going to take it on the freeway. I have 2 choices for distributors, a Mollory Unilite vac advance or an Accel Pro mechanical advance. I also have 2 carb choices, Edelbrock 750cfm or 625cfm. Formula says 625 but I plan to use an aggressive cam. I am going to change out the rear end should I go with the 3.91:1 or 3.73:1. Planning on driving it a lot not just a weekend warrior.

gears will be dependent on cam choice and torqe converter if auto ask the cam company the spec id definitely go with a vaccum advanced dizzy and id use the 750cfm carb. also check out www.ausfordparts.com and check out the intakes and heads etc

Thanks for your help. I will go with the 750cfm and the Mallory Unilite. I haven't picked a cam yet. The current torque converter is stock. Parts thatI already have are; Edelbrock Performer intake, Wieand water pump, headers, MSD 6a, Comp springs on 2v heads and a double roller timing gear set from Comp Cams.

I read in a magazine a long time ago "The 3.91:1 Traction Lok because you didn't just want to beat the niehborhood kid in his Camaro you had to humiliate him." Every since then I wanted the 3.91.

Nothing against new technology but I want to stay with old school because I am going with a retro look.

Use this calculator to determine carb CFM.

I am going to use my 2v heads. What would redline be on a 351C? I am going to do the trans and stall converter next summer. I want to get it out this year and drive a bit because it hasn't been on the road since June 1999.

depends largely on cam choice also but the factory oil system is good for about 7 grand i believe as long as the valve springs are up to the task etc but if i was u id look into the external oil mod where you run an oil line from the oil pressure fitting in the front to the one in the rear

I like it! Nice ride! Just lose those chrome wagon wheel rims.

Nothing else to add sorry.
