Mustang library
Hey guys and gals. I was hoping to get some feedback/suggestions on everyone's favorite books and guides for restorations. Including stuff that tells you how to accurately reproduce certain models, books specifically about body work for classic Mustangs, schematics and diagrams, engine-related material, etc.
I just don't wanna go out and buy a stack of books online and find out half of them suck - either because they're written poorly, or not detailed enough, or just plain aren't what they sounded like they'd be.
Kinda make sense?

Hello.
The appropriate year model shop manual is a must-have. There is a book called Mustang: 1964 1/2-1973 Restoration Guide by Tom Corcoran and Earl Davis that is good for finding part numbers, decoding tags, etc.. It doesn't actually tell you how to fix anything, but it does have a lot of long lists and charts and stuff. What I end up refering to on a regular basis is the Ford Master Parts Catalogue. I have one that covers everything that has anything to do with body, trim, and interior stuff for everything that Ford built between 1960 and 1968. It has pictures of paint colors, the paint codes, patches of every material Ford used on interior stuff, all sorts of stuff. Mine is an original, actual book with pages, but it is available on cd for folks that don't like books so much.
The MCA judging rules book is a good one. Personally, I have row after row of original publications covering a pretty wide array of makes and models, but I just like books. The best thing that I've found for finding out something that I'm not sure about is to find people that should know what they're talking about and just ask. Hope that helps.

The MCA judging rules that Veronica mentioned is right here.

I have all but two Body Assembly Manuals, they show exactly how the factories used to weld, seal, and assemble the Mustangs. I also have Mustang Restoration Handbook, Ford V-8s on a Budget, Chilton Ford manual, a cross section for 67s, Interior Restoration, and finally the shop manual on CD.
