Default Drive Shaft Length

I havequestion about drive shaft length. My drive shaft goes in to the TKO 600 about 6". I have to pull it back about 2"- 2 1/4" to connect it to the pumpkin leaving about 3 3/4"-4" in the trans. Is that enough, or is that not enough?

You need a longer drive shaft, 3/4 of an inch of pull back (all the way in then back out 3/4"). With all that power you need all you can get. I like using truck shafts then cut them to fit. Have it balanced too.

you can go to a race shop and for under $200 you should be able to get a 2" diameter chrome molly chaft that is already balanced, had u-joints and is painted.

This is a balaanced aluminum shaft that was shipped from Unique Performance before I ever had the trans installed. I calledthecompany that made the driveshaft, and was told that since it has the 6" long TKO input yoke, that pulling it out 2" was "OK".

I was not convinced with his statement. And 2" seems to like a lot. Just wondered if anybody else knew for sure.

I just ordered one 50 1/4" long [sm=happy046.gif]. 49" wasn't enough. ha ha

Oh yeah, it is 3 1/2" around[sm=thanx.gif]!!! And balanced [sm=bounceybounce.gif]. It can handle a lot of torque[sm=yikesomg.gif].

ha ha. Now... bring it on.
