stalling
i recently rebuild my carb (autolite 2100) and it was working good for awhile but now i'm having some problems. it starts right up but instally stalls unless i give it some gas which i know isn't good for it. which carb adjustments do i need to be doing because i've adjusted the choke housing, fast idle screw, the plastic nut, and the idle mixture screws, i'm not sure what's out of whack to be causing this. My timing was adjusted right before the rebuild as well. Any ideas?
is your carb electric choke or manual? if its manual than you just need to open the choke and let it warm up for a bit. but if the choke isnt open it will die upon starting up, if its electric then it does it all for you. if you feed it a little bit of a gas at start up for a couple of minsjust so it can warm up does it run good after that? or still stalling?
it's a manual choke, i have the choke settings 2 to the rich side. if i give it some gas as soon as it starts then it's usually fine after that i just can't figure out why it's not starting and then immediately wanting to die
Pump your gas pedal twice all the way to the floor then start it. Give it a little gas after it starts and allow the engine to warm up for a few seconds before trying to move the car. You could possibly have the float set a little low, so check that setting.
i'm trying to avoid giving it gas though to keep it running after start up, isn't that bad for the engine. i wasn't having to do this a couple weeks ago so i'm trying to figure out what adjustments to make. i looked at the fuel level and it was a little low, where exactly do you bend the float so as not to do any damage to the needle or seat? thanks
