are these needed?
On my 71 mustang I am in the middle of cutting off the frnt aprons and there is a small brace that is approx 1" wide and about 1/8" thick that runs from the shock towers to the frnt of the front half of the apron, it is kinda shaped the same as the top of the apron, are they needed? i cannot find them for sale anywhere and the right one was destroyed from the accident the car was in and the left one is kinda rusty. They are pretty weak and bend pretty easythe question is do i have to have them and what do they do. here are some pics please excuse the blurryness of the pics as i dont know how to operate the camera completely. thanks scott

no i have cut the aprons off my self and they lip over these little braces, i have new aprons and they are not on them. there is a recessed area under the frnt apron on the shock towers for these to set into. they are braces not something someone has spliced in.
i pulled aprons off of a 73 vert at work those were not there i think they have been replaced in the past and they left some metal to align to and over lapped it see what im saying?
i was at a mustang and ford show today and one guy told me he had some on his car and didnt put them back on and it didnt cause any problems...so i guess they will just stay in the trash with all the other meta!!
They might be there for those big ol' fenders we got!!! I have them on the flatback! Just took this pic not a great shot but definitely the part.
