Clutch concerns
Hey guys. I got my clutch completely dissassembled and I am going to replace the disk (currnetly have a RAM disk). I have a tremec 5-speed with hydraulic clutch. Any suggestions as to what I should put back in. I would like good reliable performance and I do not want to take it apart again for a WHILE. In addition, I could use some pointers on checking the status of my pressure plate and flywheel. (I will try to post pics, but I've had trouble with that in the past.)
Even ifmy flywheel is good, isit worth the money (about $400) to get an Aluminum light-weight flywheel if I am not racing?
Howbout the springs in the pressure plate assembly, should I have them tested, replaced, etc. If so, where. I know nothing about the condition of this car because I have only had it for 2 months and neverdriven it. Thanks guys.

You have had that car for two months, and have not driven it? It must be a project car you got for a song then.
Hey, here is how you post pictures here. We need some pics to help ya out.

Ok first things first. As far as I know theres no realy way to test tension on a pressure plate. My experience has been that they hardly ever go bad, but get replaced anyway "just in case". You just look for bent "fingers", scoring or discoloration (blue) on the face where the clutch disc contatcs, or any other physical damage.
Which Tremec do you have in there? TKO? 3650?, also what is the power output of the car? And unless the flywheel is physically cracked, theres no need to replace it. Just get it turned at a machine shop and you should be fine.
As for suggestions on teh clutch disc itself, you could always get one that has more springs in it. Thatll help it "bite" harder.

I'm not a drag racer, but with a light flywheel you'd probably want deeper axle gears to help your launch - without being so deepthat having enough rpm capability to avoidany need to shift into 5th becomes a problem.
