new engine this weeked
so after all my dilemas of what engine to buy ive found one.
this weekend im going to an auto pick-a-part by my house and im getting a 302 roller motor from an 89 5.0 for 250$. then im gona to take it apart and rebuild it, but i was thinking about carburetoring it, what do you guys think?

been done, it's not any particular problem. Are you gonna stay with the efi or switch to carb? If you have a stock manual clutch linkage, you'll need a bracket for the engine end of the z-bar. You will also need a front sump oil pan and move the oil dip stick to the front of the engine. You also need to decide on front dressing, v-belt or serpentine. This decision also affects the water pump and the radiator outlet.

+1...think about what you're going to do before you go get the motor. Is the $250 for just the long block? does it cover the front accessories or the fuel injection portion? If you're going EFI, then you need to pick up all the pieces at one time if at all possible. If you're going to carb the motor, then decide what you're going to do about the front of the motor... V belt or Serp. 89's have reverse rotating water pumps.
