harmonic balancer ,, how do I get the thing off..
I know the simple answer is to go buy a puller,, but I dont want to spend the money. So any suggestions on how to get it off without the puller, and without breaking the thing?
Make sure that you use a harmonic balancer puller and not a gear puller. If you use a gear puller youcould easilyscrew up the balancer by pulling it apart.

Get/rent/borrow the puller. Most of them can be used to install balancers in one way or another, so you'll actually get two uses out of it. (Yes, I know people use a hammer for installation, but that's really not the best way to do it.)

Go buy a puller, it is adjustable and you can use it for several things. And they are not that expensive. As far as installing the balancer, use a soft deadblow hammer and TAP it. Get it onjust enough to get some threads started on the bolt. Put some grease around the head of the bolt and use it to install.Turn the bolt slowly and evenly work the balancer back on.I do this to all that I have removed and installed. Technique also works good for pinion yokes.
