first you need to build up the engine to hold the blower or youll float the valves bend rods.http://www.dyersblowers.com/157.html has blower kits for the fe either a 671 or a 871 the 671 is small only a single carb the 871 is a dual carb

Lots.
you have to change a lot of things in that engine to take a blower.Pistons have to be forged.Cam has to be for a blower engine. You are looking at a large chunk of change to make it a semi reliable motor. When you think of blowing air into an engine, think of an oxy acetalyne torch.Your stock valves will look like someone had a torch such as this inside your engine.
Just for a gigle,go into a machine shop that does engines and ask how much cost is required to do this type of engine.Ill bet the first thing youll hear is 'oooooh'. If its under 10 000,Id be surprised.

If you have a n/a 390 making 550hp you don't want to screw with putting a Roots blower on it, cuz I imagine you already have pretty decent compression. You'll most likely just destroy your engine, burn holes in pistons, crack pistons etc. It's gonna want to detonate, Roots blowers run hot and hate high compression, and it's absolutely CRITICAL you tune it right, which is hard with a carb....you don't go rich enough, especially with higher compression, and boom.
