hi guys. i need some help in importing a car from usa to ireland.i have a 66 coupe and i want to buy alate 60s fastback and the only descent ones i see are inthe states.honestly i dont know where to start. there is not much problem in the actual transport of the car but its all the paperwork required. can anyone help me with this, even if i got the car to the uk it would be no problem from there.
Have tryed these places:
http://www.california-import.com/ (Belgium)
http://www.stolzeclassiccars.nl/ (Holland)
http://www.geevers-classics.nl/ (Holland)

Usually there are nice Mustangs and then you are dealing with inside EU. It might be chaper when you buy inside Eu besauce you do not have to pay customs duty.

Hi KTM,

if I don't have to pay duty, they had to and I have to pay them double. That's the way it usually works.
Nevertheless I'm very thankful you posted those links. Because they have the tremendous advantage that you can actually have a look at the cars without travelling to the states.
I knew that a lot of places in Netherlands sell those and could not locate them. So big time thanks !!!!

Yes that is the way it usually works, but remember that in EU area also vat % is not same at different contryes. In my case in Finland vat is 22% and customs duty for car is 10% and in Holland vat is 17,5% and if I understand those Dutch customs papers there is no customs dutues for old cars? Language is little bit difficult to understand in those papers.

In my case it was cheaper to buy Mustang from Holland than USA, but it is very case sensitive and depends price and condition of the car where you can get best car for the best price.

Good luck for hunting!

I feel sorry for you guys who have to pay valued tax. When I was in Germany we Americans just filled out some paperwork that voided us having to pay the VAT.

yah. it's a shame. I don't see the point of paying VAT on a car older than 40 years ...
what really annoys me is that duty and VAT are paid on car+shipping+duty, which result in a LOT of money.

Oh yes CIF - price (costs, insurance and freight) as calculating base are one of most expensive three alfabets when you go to customs to pay all fees[:@]

In this country, we say -'taxation without representation is tyrany', and you react to taxes as if they were 'normal'. Think about our solution in 1776.

Just a quick word if you have a car you want more info I may be able to visitafter the 4th july (Have to finish my Phd Thesis) and vat is 19% in the netherlands.Other dutch places are www.moviecars.nlandsomein belgium www.mustanggarage.be and http://www.oldtimerfarm.be. I would rather pay taxes and have public health and public transport.

I prefer the freedom and accept the resposibilities that go with it. In this country, government is the problem, not the solution. I can buy a Mustang in any state and move it and all my posessions without fear. A rescent survey shows that those of us living in the Western part of the US don't use public transportation - distances are a lot greater than Europe and we like it that way. We enjoy driving, not being crammed on a bus or train. If we get into an accident with injuries, the US has the BEST health care in the world. Ask the Canadians that cross the border to avoid the long lines of 'public' health.Your may be cheaper - because it is.On a positive note, this country was builtby people from Europe and their decendents- those with a dream, Henry Ford included. Remind me again on May 8th, VE Day.
