Need some help!
Hey everyone.
This is my first post and iam in need of a little info by everyone. Iam the owner of a 1968 Mustang Gt 390 fastback4spd. I have the Marti report and every bit of this car checks out, but one thing. The tach is a 6 grand tach, and not the standard 8 for the 390 cars. I have talked to a few people about this and have been told that because the car was built early in 1968 (Feb 20 1968 as the Marti report states ) it may have had a 6000rpm tach put in it from 1967. Any insight into this from you guys would be great.
Regards

According to this, the 68 390 came with an 8,000 RPM tach. Now, what a 6,000 RPM is doing on your car I don't know. It could be that a PO swapped it out for some reason, or as you alluded it may have come with a 67 Tach because of the build date.

From the deep confines of my vast collection of paper comes the following - there were two 8,ooo rpm tachometer equipped instrument clusters offered in 1968, a standard interior version andone with the Interior Decoroption. No mention as to whether either was required or available as an option with the 390.
