we have a NEW cool twist on our 67 Stang.
Here's where I need your help. The car is a rare 1 of 99 Diamond Blue Convertible. Now then that is cool, HOWEVER!!!! Looking at the car , door jams, under the convertible top attachments, in the compartment that holds the top while it's down, in the trunk, in EVERY crevice of this car it ALL matches....appears that its one and only paint job since the factory was on the outside like normal and all remaining paint was "original' from the factory.
Here's the kicker....looking at paint code colors it DOES NOT match Diamond Blue...it is Acupalco Blue. I swear it looks like someone at the factory THOUGHT they were tagging a Diamond Blue and got the paint code wrong......
anyone EVER heard of this happening before?????

It must be really rare because I have never heard of diamond blue. Here are the production colors for 67 and diamond blue is not mentioned. http://www.svs.com/zim/mustang/67colors.html

LOL....see I wasn't tell'n stories. Yep "N" code is Diamond Blue a color option for 68 ..not 67 however there were 99 of these convertibles painted the "N" color in 67. My car was last production week for 67 with a DSO of DC. in 67 they did not show DC as a DSO location....however it was a DSO for 68, car has 68 brakes with "O" axle code too.....that is weird as well (yes I've looked at it 50 times it IS "O")
anyway the color, by paint swatches the paint does not match Diamond Blue...it is the Acpulco Blue, I've looked and looked and IF the car went thru a color change it was YEARS ago and someone did ONE HECK of a job perfecting it.

Diamond blue was the original color for my 68 fastback. I thought it was a 68 only color, I didn't know it was everoffered on 67's. Learn something new every day I guess. I doubt the factory made a mistake, I would be more inclined to think it was a color change sometime in its past and a very good job done of it.
Interestion - Diamond Blue is not listed on the color chart - but there is a picture of a Diamond Blue 67 Mustang on the site. It wouldn't be the first time Ford changed to a horse of a different color in mid stream.
There are many instances of Ford using colors from another car line, T-birds for example, or using a color from the next year model. These may have been special customer orders or prototype colors on cars for customer reaction. Remember, Ford was interested in selling cars, not sticking to a color chart.
