Default 65 Fenders

i was wondering if anybody has bought and installed fenders on a 65 stang. if so, i was wondering how the reproduction fenders fit. obviously the original tooling fenders fit better, but they are about $200 bucks more than the others. i was thinking about getting some this winter and installing them. thanks for the info.

You get what you pay for. My car has them from when the previous owner did the paint/body work. They fit like dog poopie. The seams at the cowl and door are awful.

I'd find some original fenders and have them stripped and any dents removed.

I have'nt replaced my 65's fenders, but if or when I do. I'll buy the original Ford tooling.

I pulleda repop front fender off of my Mustang and tossed it on the side of the house and replaced it with a Ford tooling fender. Like James' experience, mine obviously sucked too. The fit by the headlight cover was an absoluted disgrace. In fairness, my fender was probably built in the late 80's and maybe they've gotten better since then, though it doesn't sound like it.

Conversely, the Ford tooling fender fits like a comfortable shoe! It lines up perfectly, mates well with the headlight cover and just plain works. This is one part worth paying the extra for.

I was gonna say....take those off and repair them. Nothing like the fit of original Ford tooling. The Chinese just can't get it right.
