Default royal purple

at soaring's suggestion, i did some research on synthetic oil vs. dino oil. it appears that the synthetic is superior in every catagory to dino oil and that royal purple is one of the best if not the best.
so my questions are

if i switch from dino to royal purple, will the royal purple mix ok with the residual dino oil left in the car at the change?

do i still change my filter, and add a quart of oil at 3000 miles?

is the royal purple ok to run in my 01 ranger and my 67 mustang?

is 10,000 the max limit on mileage for the royal purple?

since i don't drive my 67 mustang much in the winter, (it is a convertible), and may not reach the 10,000 miles, should i make sure to change the royal purple at least every 6 months?

any other sugesstions?

just wait for soaring to post he did the samething in his mustang from dino oil to royal purple. switching from one to the other wont hurt and when you change it read the quart the oils in it will give you a milage or months stick to that but it wont hurt if longer. i change the oil in my moms car once a year but she dont drive more then 4k a year if that.

The dino will mix quite well with the RP. You may notice on the shelf at the autoparts store, that you can buy a mix of dino and syn. oil. You can run for at least 5K miles before you change the filter and add one quart of RP. You can run Royal Purple in any automobile you desire. I have it in my 65 and my 03 Mach.
10,000 miles is not the max, that's just a time to change another filter. If your car sits up for an extended period of time, moisture collects in the oil pan, so most automobile manufacturers recommend an oil change every 6 months whether you run the engine for 10,000 miles or not.

so you are saying to change the filter at 5,000 miles? is that because that there is less wear in the engine?

I've heard that going from dino to synthetic will sometimes cause leaks.

BTW: I go about 15k between changes of synthetic in my BMW. To be on the safe side I send samples in upon changes, andthe tests have shownno problems ingoing that long. Now, I'm not sure it's a good idea to go thatmany mileson an old Ford V8, but it is working well for me in another car.

That's a myth. I was believing that lie for several years before I finally made the change. The viscosity and other additives simply last longer than with dino oils. If you filter out the impurities occasionally, they oil will continue to maintain it safe zone for thousands of miles more than dino oil. I take mine to close to 20,000 before I change it completely. If I had continued to change every 3K with the dino stuff I would have been paying more for oil than with the Royal Purple. A lot more.

Coincidence or not, when I converted my 98 to Mobil1, it crapped out on me and never ran the same again. I don't even drive it anymore since it doesn't run good at all

Friday the Amisol rep stopped by the shop to drop off some literature and talk to me about stocking Amisol product.

I'll get the data sheets and scan them Monday. There's alot of misleading info about "synthetic" oils and change intervals. There's also a recent study done by an independant group on synthetic lubricants and where each "name brand" falls into the best of the best.

I'll hold off comenting because I can't recall all of the info I read Friday. It was a scortching day and I was ready for a cold one.

Cheers.
