Its America's Pony car. The Legend. No matter what age group, or where you go, they will recognize it. What year did the Camero disappear? I actually have a love for all the old cars but simply like the Stangs more. I also have the most respect for anyone that takes it on to save on of these, no matter what make.
On edit: Sorry I forgot, I hate BMW's. Something about Porcupines.

Am I the only one who bought it because its a MUCH better handling car than its GM counterparts???

When I was looking for my first car I knew I wanted a muscle car. I liked the V-8's and the power, etc.etc.
The first car I looked at was a '75 trans am 455 4spd. While the car was very powerful, it had horrible traction problems. Not to mention once you got the car sideways it didnt want to come back. Then I drove a '87 trans am GTA 305 5 spd. Not very powerful, sweet lookin car though. Anyway, it had the same problem. Once the car got going sideways, no way in hell were you bringing it back from the death slide.
Then I drove a '79 mustang, it was all stock, 302 4 spd. While at the time I thought it was pretty quick (little did I know), the car drove VERY well, was very easy to control, and most important, if you started going sideways, you could EASILY recover. And thats what I wound up getting. Souped it up pretty hardcore (420 ft.lbs of torque), and tore the rear end off of the car [:@].
BTW, afterI sent if off to the JY, I found out it was a 1979 Ghia sport. 1 of 1500 made [:@] well its flat as a pancake now.
-P.
PS: I did strip it down almost all the way .

Like many of the other members, I was also born into a Ford family, plus it's one of the coolest car's ever made and you get looks no matter where you go.

Two reasons. My Dad owned Fords and we "never" walked home. Second, I used to walk home from elementary school in 1969 and I would pass a dark forest green 1969 Mach 1. I knew then I would own "one of those cars" some day. It turned out to be a 1970 Mach 1, but as the saying goes...close enough"! I'm always on the look out for a solid 69 Mach 1 that needs a new home. "There's always room for one more".

My parents bought my sister a car back in 1966 and they were looking at Chevy Nova's, Plymouth Barracuda, & Ford Mustang. They bought her the Mustang, thank God and it's been history ever since. She purchased a 1973 after she handed down the 66' to my other sister for college and then to me.
My wife's 1st car was a 1979 Mustang and then she bought a 1986 Mustang. So the Mustang is basically a living legend and still continues to be one.

+1

plus its kinda like people who own harleys, your part of something.... a brethren that other owners recognize (except the later model sixxers..... and the fact that unlike harleys, our cars are actually pretty reliable )
