Default Wheel stud size and other problem

Quick question: Does anybody know the size of stock wheel studs? I was trying to mount up my TT D's, but there wasn't enough thread left to thread the lug nut safely. Before anyone tells me to check myself, my stang is off getting the headliner and windshields installed, so I won't have it back until Monday. Man, I've got alot of work to do though. On the way to the glass shop, when I hit about35-40, the entire car would shake until I came to a stop. This is the first time I've really driven it since I've gotten it (been doing body work and stuff). It seemed like it originated from the rear, but it wasn't a driveshaft shimmy, it was to violent to be that. I also didn't feel it in the steering wheel. It felt like I was about to lose a wheel. Anyways, if anyone knows the wheel stud size, that'd be great. I need to get them ordered soon.

Forgot to mention it's a 67

Depending on the year of the car - I'll use a 66 with drum brakes as reference, 1/2-20X1 1/2 long front and 1/2-20X1 5/8 rear.

My 66 coupe c code has 1 1/4in. long wheel studs. The shimmy you describe sounds like dynamic unbalance of the rear wheels and tires. It can be caused by a really bad tire balance, a bad tir (out of round), a bent rim, or a loose rim on the axle.

Looks like I'll be going with 2inch studs then. I was looking at the lug nuts that you use for Cragar SS wheels, something like this: not sure if it would mount right or not. It does say use acorn lugs.

I'll have to see how large the holes are in the wheels though.

The shimmy you are feeling may be caused by unbalance of the rear wheels and tires... It has happened to my car previously and was due to hitting some railroad tracks at 40-50 mph and throwing my allignment off.
