blacked out tail light panel..
Like I said earlier you could go with a carbon fiber look. If you want to be really different you could try to make something out of diamond plate to cover the panel. You might even be able to try a piece of stainless steel and use different sanding methods to get different textures and designs and go with a shiny look. I cant really think of anything else as a textured look.

my first thought was a grainy texture that could be accomplished with rocker moulding texture used to repair the factory grain in an accident, it can be painted over??
the boss 302 mustang the tail lights panel is a flat black you mean something like this http://www.tplusplus.de/muscle/img/70boss302.jpg

I have the taillight panel on my 65 painted black, but it doesn't have any texture to it. If you'd like to see some pics I'll post them.

I have my back end painted flat black. It looks very nice, but the oil and gas coming out of my pipes when I get on it REALLY shows up on the flat black. I would paint it with some type of gloss. I know I will the next time.
