if he recently had clutch work done, then they probably had to remove the drive shaft. When they did that, it's possible that they messed it, or the u-joint up while they were removing it or putting it back in if he wasn't careful.

Right now I'm picturing your car on a lift last monthwhere a guy accidently dropped your drive shaft about 6 ftonto the shop floor, leaving a nice little bow in it. Or it could have beensomeone beating on it prettyhard to get itout...which could have messed up your u-joint.

If it's ok under hard acceleration but vibrates everywhere else it's most likely the u-joint, I'd have that a lot before I got traction bars. My wheel hop was so bad that I'd go through a u-joint every 4 months even trying to be careful

Take your drive shaft off and take it to a machine shop to have them check the balance and overall condition. Then assemble it with a new set of Universal Joints.

Soaring, here's one for you, the original Ford quality. I still have my factory driveshaft with the factory balance from 40 years ago, untouched. And there's no vibration at any speed(at least not that I can feel over the engine/exhaust)

i had a look at the uv joint, it looks pretty good. there is a small bit of movement but very little. could this still be the cause of it. another thing i noticed is that my brake lines are actually running across the drive and are hitting it, surely this is not safe.

Even a small amount of play in a u-joint can cause vibration, and yes anything touching the driveline is not good, it will cut the driveline in time. I am assuming that it is the e-brake cables that are dragging on the driveshaft and not the hydraulic lines,,, either way it is not good....

It is also possible that the cables may have knocked the ballance weights off of the shaft, or otherwise unballanced the shaft.
