Default camshaft question

Hey fellas,

Im buying a new camshaft and I have a couple questions

Is summit racing better than or equal to Edelbrock's camshafts

Also, there are a couple differences in the duration of the inlet/exhaust degreese, and i have questions. which would be the best for horse power? im looking at 2 different kits.

270/ 280, Lift .448/ .472 ( idel - 5500 RPM )
or
276/ 286, Lift .471/ .471 (1500- 4000 RPM )
im not going to be racing, just crusing... and gunning it at on ramps

i had the summit cam your looking at, and with my stock ex manifolds going into a single pipe and weenie 4bbl intake from a 83gt it ran out of steam at about 5000-5500 but it would melt the tires and pull hard right up until the 5000+ mark. (and im pretty sure the flattening out after 5000+ was due to the intake and exhaust.

i'd have no qualms about getting another one for a streetable 302, it had a pretty good idle quality too.

note the summit has longer duration and more lift that the edelbrock yet the edelbrock lists its powerband higher - thats pretty much wrong - grab the summit for 79 bucks or whatever it is

good, that means the edelbrock cam is a weenie - cause its smaller than a cam that is still considered tame

btw it will work with stock springs but you *may* experience valve float at higher rpms (and if there are shims under your springs from a previous valve job they would bind)

Both Crane and competition cams make good camshafts also.
