How to get the rocker panel chrome off question.
I am getting Ol' Yeller's quarter panel repaired tomorrow, and in order to save some money, I am taking off all the chrome on the driver's side rear plus the rocker panel chrome. As you can see, I have everything removed except the rocker panel chrome. How do I remove that?

See, if you had a GT you wouldn't have that problem.
In the front, there is a stud into the fender held by a nut on the inside. Same for the rear. Use a 3/8 deepwall. The rest is held on in fiveplaces by 'clip' plates pop riveted to the rocker. The mouldingshould pop off. I don't know, I have a couple of GT's so I don't have that problem - oh, I said that. Don't want to be redundant. Don't want to be redundant.

I was in Houston a few months ago, and my brother had his driveway full of cars, so I had to park on the street in front of his house. Well, even though his house is not very old, and the neighborhood is relatively new, there are a large number of "other" nationalities who are living there. Well, sometime during the night someone (and I suspicion a kid) kicked in my rear quarter panel. I saw the heel print on the panel the next morning.
Thanks Jim....She came off without a hitch. Now it's off to the body shop tomorrow then I will need to put all this chrome back on. Even though it's work, it's really kinda fun tearing stuff off these old cars.

Tell me. In getting the pictures of the rear valence from my 65, I 'vacuumed' out the wheel well, replaced the rubber drains, replace the stud plates and locked the spare out of the trunk when I was done. I get ahead of myself off and on.

That's like walking into a room and forget why you went in there. I did that today. I walked into the shop and forgot what I was going to get. So, back to the work and , "Oh Yeah, I need a deep 3/8" socket."

Three - clip installed
Four - different view
The valence shown is a reproduction I got from NPD about four years ago. I used it as a template to rework the valence on my 66 hardtop to locate the thru valence ports and on a 65 to locate the back-up light ports. It was easier and cheaper than buying two and painting. The material is 0.032 inch (22 ga) steel and dimensionally identical to the originals.
