Default Grab a Trak susp. questions

My car pretty much drives like a turd on wheels. I am considering buying the Grab-A-Trak kit from mustangs plus. It pretty much will replace the whole suspension.

I am wondering if anyone here has used it and the results, if it is worth the money ($875 plus shipping), and how hard is it to install. The shops here are quoting about $700-800 to install it, and I dont really want to part with that much cash right now. Thanks much!!

I don't have that suspension so I'll leave its specifics up to others. As for the install, you may struggle with a bolt or two from time to time, but it can be done solo in your driveway with basic hand tools and a spring compressor.

Don't forget the steering components while you're at it!

You'll be amazed how pleasurable driving on a new suspension and steering is!

Good luck!

I bought the grab a trac suspension-i had my garage put it in -it ran 1000 for labor/alignmentmight seem a little high in price but I am on long island new york and things seem to be a little more expensive here. Had some problems with mustang plus. When I purchased the kitI told them I need everything....well, my stock centerdrag link with control valvedidnt match with the grab a trac suspension anda newidler arm bracket was need to to match the grab a trac. The left side inner and outer tie rod and sleeveshipped from mustang pluswas bad.Would notthread together and car couldnt be alligned. When they shipped the new tie rods and sleeves, the sleeve they sent me was wrong-didnt fit the grab a trac tie rods. The only thingI wished I would have changed was the spring perches-they had no rubber on them and the car squeeks....it drives much better and I went with the 620 up front and the 4 1/2 in the rear.I also didnt install the rear sway bar-didnt think I need it for sunday drives.

Sounds like a headache for you. How bad does the car squeak? Maybe I will look into the perches. Thanks much.

It makes noise- not to bad.I was hoping it would be noise free but I think thats a little to much to ask for in a 41 year old car.

I bought the complete kit for my 73 Mach 1 . It was a piece of cake to install and everything fit as intended. I ordered it with the2 inch lowering kit . I used Grab-A-Trac leaf springs, coil springs , sway bars , upper and lower control arms, tie rods , shackles, spring bushings etc ... I bought the complete kit for under a grand delivered to my door. I could not have been any happier with the fit, finish and function of the kit.

I bought that kit, and it turned out great, the sagging look disappeared, now the front sits one inch lower and the back are a little higher, nice mean stance. I wish I could show you before and after pictures, by my ride is getting electrical work now in a shop, and have not taken after pictures as of yet, but very pleased with that Grab A Track kit.

I had them installed by a professional because I'm partially disabled and is hard for me to get under the car effectively (I was charged $675 for the installation of all the components, leaf springs, front suspension, shocks, steering kit.

I bought the 4 leaf ones, that will give you the cushy soft ride, then there's the 5 leaf, a stiffer but firmer ride for better cornering and performance, and you can also meet half way between comfort and performance by getting the 4.5 leafs.

I forgot to mention that my kit also had the shocks for all four corners as well. I have been very satisfied with their ride. Firm, but not enough to shake your fillings loose. The reverse eye springs for the rear will adjust your ride height. I agree with the previous post that the stance is greatly improved over the stock saggy look. Dean

I will have to buy some new rear shackles for the back of the leaf. The PO put longer shackles on it, and I am chaning the tires out from 225/70 14 to 205 65 14. I am wondering if the new tires will leave to much of a gap and a weird stance.

I am getting the kit, just gotta decide if I can install myself. I tried rebuilding the tranny myself and that didnt turn out well for me at all[&o]
