Default Air Conditioner?

I just got a new air conditioner, it drains the battery when on. Any ideas?

Thanks

Test the output of your alternator when the air con is on. If it isn't sending enough juice to the battery, then change out the alternator and the voltage regulator. Most likely the VR is the problem, but for a few extra bux solve the entire problem and not just waste time with small fixes.

I'm 63 years old. I have owned over a hundred cars, worked on all of them, and have never had a car in a shop to get repaired except for body work. I grew up on a farm, and learned how to weld, use a cutting torch and repair all of the tractors and trucks we used on the farm.

Maybe I should go live with my aunt and cousins then, the ones with the 14 acre farm. They've got one garage that has 3 dirtbikes in it, 2 quads, 3 go karts, and many other small fun vehicles, another garage with a boat and motorhome, another with my families motorhome. and another with 3 tractors and a couple lawn mowers.

Bingo..... by todays standards even a 1400 acre farm is not really big.....

I spent quite a bit of myyouth on a farm, and even a little time as an adult, this is one great place to learn about machines, and how to make them go when you need to make them run.

Did you grow up in a Texas farm, or somewhere else? My parents grew up on Arkansas farms, I grew up on Arizona farms.

It is possible for the coil on the A/C clutch to partially short, thiscan cause a huge draw, This seldom ocours, but it can happen, I have seen it, I don't know how the compressor wire did not melt, but it did not...
