Stalling 67 289
I have a dilema with my newly road worthy 67 resotation project. The car runs great complete rebuilt engine, and all new components. I have found when the engine is warm (after running ~20miles) the car stalls at idle. Then wen I try to restart it runs very rough. if I let the engine cool for about 30 minutes it runs great again. Help if you can.
Before you do this, then engine must be warm and the choke not affecting the main butterfly.
I would start with the timing, plugs and points first. Plug gap of 0.035 inch, points at 0.017 inch, timing at 6 BTDC. Get the idle mixture screws next - butterfly closed, the idle screw backed off the stop, and then adjust the two mixture screws, first all the way in then out 1 1/2 to 2 full turns, then adjusting each 1/8 turn at a timeuntil the cars idles without stalling. Next turn the idle screw in to raise the idle to about 750 rpm. Do it by ear. Thst should be it.
