66 Horn Issue
I would like to say Gremlins, but your steering wheel it the culprit. There are two contacts (aka brushes) in the column that provide an electrical path thru 'rings' in the wheel. The actual switching on and off is the outside ring that you push. (Too many rings.)The inside contact rings get warped with time, maybe even loose, there are screws that hold them in place. (See NPD 2007 pg67, p/n 13A823-1 for a picture.) To really determine the problem, you need to pull the steering wheel.

Ha Ha!!
Mine did the same thing! It freaked me out at first. I once thought some A-hole was honking at me for no reason. I think I just replaced all of the "insides" because it all looked either broken or worn out. You should be fine.

Sorry to intrude on your horn post but I am looking for a decent sound to my horn. Everything I have bought and tried sounds like a vw bug or like plain crap. Any idea where to get something good sounding.
My brothers truck was doing the same thing and it took some adjusting and replacing some rings.

It's actually pretty funny, but every time I turn left or right the horn on the 66 Mustang it Honks. Obviously the horn works but what could cause this?

Thanks.... We usually just wave and pretend we know the person next to us. It's pretty embarrassing sometimes, but you have to just laugh.
