Default squealing fan belt

On my 66, 200 cid/3 speed, alternator equipped, I get a little fan belt squeal when I rev the engine after starting up (after a few days sitting...not when warm). This goes away after a couple of rev's. If I turn on the headlights, it's a couple more squeals but now this includes after warm starts. If I turn on the euro fog lights, it's pretty much a light squeal every time you rev the engine (or downshift into second). No apparent electrical problems, lights don't dim or brighten significantly, turns over great. Battery is at least 10 years old but seems to do the job; it turned over strong while in storage when I started it each month on a 35-degreewinter day. What should I be measuring and where for amp's or volt's and what should I get for readings? Do I need a new battery or new/bigger alternator? I'm not running any other accessories except the occasional heater fan or original AM radio. Could this be damaing the voltage regulator?

You need to tighten the belt.

Yes, great idea...try the simple first step. I tend to overanalyze and assume the worst. We'll try it tonight. thanks

if the car has been in storage long, the belt may have dry rotted somewhat, if tightening doesnt stop the squeal, then buy a new belt
