Default Horsepower??? 302 ’73 mu

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"></font><font size="1"></font><font color="blue"></font>I found out that this mustang for sale only has a 302 engine in it. How much horsepower does a stock 302 have??? Could I pull the 350 chevy big block from my blazer and drop it in this mustang if i bought it??????<img border="0" src= smileys/smiley3.gif> <img border="0" src= smileys/smiley3.gif>

You could. There are header and motormount kits available for such a conversion. Howd you find a big block 350?

Oh i did say big block 350. My bad.....<img border="0" src= smileys/smiley9.gif> What I meant was SMALL BLOCK 350. How much horsepower does the a stock 302 engine have??

I believe the 302's had 250 hp. The 302's in the Boss 302 mustangs had 2 versions. The street version was 290hp and the racing version had close to 450 hp

A stock 302 in '73 had 140 HP. It's in the books used to fix them. Chilton's etc.

Hey i have a question for you i have a 73 mustang grande im getting it in a couple of days and i was wondering if you had any idea on how much horsepower would it have but with a 4 barrel carb that i added to it? thanks

dont put a chevy engine in a mustang. Thats just wrong, its your car but trust me you wont here the end of it.

Nice use of the search function, most people dont use it. You could however start your own thread rather than pull this one from 6 years ago out of the depths of internet purgatory.

How much power you will have depends on what engine it is, the 351 Cleveland or the 302, and what condition that engine is in. Either way, if everything is stock and in ok shape, with the somewhat heavier Grande it wont be a drag car for sure. Figure around 200hp at the crank on a good day, maybe a bit more with the 351C.

If you want to start changing things, start a thread of your own, because the silly comment about dropping a chevy in a Mustang appears to be a troll attempt and you will be lost in the shuffle.

Try not to drag long dead threads up if you can help it, a link to them is much preferred.
