Default gt 350 question?

I have a motor that i have had for a few years. I was told it was a gt 350 motor. I cant find any information on how to identify the block. the casting number on the block is C80E-6015-A. I know this is the casting block number for a 68 302, but what character should i look for to verify it as a gt350 or not. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum Mich. The GT`350 was the 1965-66 Model of Carroll Shelby Mustang, and he used the K code Ford engine to build it. He added a lot of performance things to that original 271 Horsepower K code to make it over 300 Horsepower. Here is some reading for ya.

The 68 GT350, the year in question, used a 302 'J' code with little modification. Difficult to say, but if someone, in good faith, sold you a motor out of a 1968 GT-350 - would you be interested in some flat land to the West of Miami Beach?

Yeah, I'll also sell you you the goldengate bridge located in Arizona if you have a 68 350 engine. The 350 k codes were only put into the 65-66 models. The 500 GTs were in the 67 and up.

gt 350 was a model available in 68 soaring. It doesn't get as much press because of the gt 500 and the gt 500 kr, but it was still in the line up, it might not have had a k code stamped on the block, but technically you could call the motor pulled from one a gt 350 motor.

I'll be goddamned. I never realized that a 68 model had a GT 350. News to me. Thanks for correcting me.

True story...back around 2000 or so I was at the Auto-Fair at Charlotte. My best friend an i noticed a ton of 1967 GT-350 intake manifolds for sale and everyone of them looked like it just came from the casting foundry. THAT good. We became curious and counted them and then went to Tony Brands's stall and asked him if he had noticed them. Yes he had. We then asked if you knew just how many 1967 GT-350's were built......he replied.....'fewer than the number of manifolds for sale here today.'

What exactly should i look for in the casting number? Would the j code be in the primary casting number, or located elsewhere on the block. The motor came with double eyebrow cut pistons. Is that tipicle of a gt 350 or is that an after market upgrade? There seems to be very little info on how to verify a 68 gt 350 block. I am interested in selling this motor if i can verify it is a gt 350 motor. Interestingly the motor was found in a barn years ago and my godfather has been holding on to it for years. thanks
