Default power booster

is there away to check if my power boost on the master cylinder is going bad? i think it is, because my brake pedal is nice and stiff sometimes and sometimes it goes all the way to the floor, but im not losing any break fluid and i bled the lines recently, im thinking the boost is going bad even though its only about 2 yrs old [&o]

easiest way to check it is to attach a vacuum pump with gage to the booster and pump it up and let it sit. If the pressure goes down than you have a leak somewhere. Also it my not be the booster but rather the MC some times the seals in side will leak under pressure causing fluid to by pas the brake system and return to the MC. Often times when this happens the MC will leak but not always. Check the booster first if it holds vacuum than replace the MC.

Ifa booster is bad the force to push it will increase substantially and in some cases causes the engine to misfire due to a large vacumn leak. If you can randomly push the pedal to the floor is typically an indication that the master is bypassing and needs to be replaced or there is still air in your system. Look at the condition of your rubber brake lines for cracking as this is a source of air in the system that is usually overlooked.

The booster has check valves in it designed to leak vacumn slightly and the seal of the inlet check valve is not always the best fit. this may lead to an incorrect disgnosis.
