Default Windage tray question

I was looking at Summit today for a windage tray for the 347. All the windage trays they sell are not for stroker motors. Do you know if I have to modify the tray or can I find one for a stroker?

you'd have to shim the tray to give more room for the crank to rotate, but then your prolly hitting your oil pan. maybe a pan with baffles is your best route?

Yeah, ideally you'd want a baffled pan and a windage tray, but I dunno off the top of my head if anyone makesa trayfor a 347, or if you could space it to clear, so yeah, get a good baffled pan.

They are not stroke specific for windage trays. You do need to replace the main bolts with studs. And at the end of the studs, there is another smaller stud where you place a nut, then the windage tray. Adjusting the nut up and down is how you keep it from hitting the rod bolts. Then another goes on the backside to lock in position. If it sees above 4k, they are great. If you are looking to make uwards of 450-500 hp, I wouldn't bother. The block moves around enough it will just break the tabs on the windage trays.(There are more expensive ways. A windage tray on a stud girdle would work at that power level.)

+1 on everything that was said, Im having my 347 assembled and just last week I discussed a windage tray with the machine shop. He wanted me to use a baffled pan. I went with a Milodon 30925 pan, I also ordered the Milodon pickup and a one piece oil pan gasket. Milodon sells a windage tray and installation kit which comes with studs so you can raise or lower the windage tray *It would have to be clearanced though. And unless your screaming the motor all the time it wont buy you much. Just my two cents.

I've heard if you are not reving past 6k for extended periods a tray does nothing for you. As far as the baffled pan, I still like the Shelby aluminum unit for the simple fact it does not reduce your ground clearance. And it does look really nice.

Here is the pan I purchased. It doesn't have any baffle in it. Maybe I should look at one that does.

That's not a bad pan. Especially for what you paid for it. My buddy and I both run that one. It has a baffle in the reaer which is good. A baffle on the side is always very easy to add. But you would really be better of with a windage traay and no baffle, than a baffle and not tray.I picked up over 1.5 tenths when it was just my 302 in the 1/4. And I only spun it to 6200.
