With fall almost here, I'll be storing the car for the winter. Other than having the car up on jack stands, any suggestions?

I live in MA and the question DEPRESSES me....can't belive its the end of August already and the long cold winter is just around the corner...its 60 degrees here tonight (albeit below average, should be warmer) but its reminding me its almost time...

i take the rotors off and put them in air tight bags to keep the rust on them to a mini.take the battery out place it on wood.id even put some silica packets in the floor board so any moister in the air they will suck it up.

 

If you dojn't jack it up, at least put some lumber under the tires. Put some clothes dryer sheets in the interior and do not set the parking brake.

 

If no jack stands, pump up the tires to max sidewall pressure. If they are radials, you are okay, bias ply and you will want to get them off the floor. +1 on Stabil or other fuel stabilizer. Good car cover is a must and a dehumidifier in the garage is a good idea for concrete floors.

 

Yeah, the reason for the lumber under the tires was because of the moisture sucked up into the concrete, and most garages don't have a dehumidifier. Too expensive to run.

 

+1 Sunny so-cal, but I feel for you guys who have to store your stangs, that has got to be depressing.

 

Now that I am retired, I don't store mine anymore.Been there, done that. I drive mine every day of the year now. But, when I did store it, I had a trickle charger hooked up to the battery that kept the battery fully charged but not over chargerd. The little unit costs about 50 or 60 bucks, but well worth it in saving batteries.
