Default What cam?

I was told by the PO that there was some engine work on the 351C when I bought it from him a few months ago. Since then I have had both the timing cover and oil pan off to change gaskets etc. Looks like a fairly new timing chain was put on but nothing really to indicate a different cam. What do I need to look at to tell if a different cam was put in and duration and so forth?

Unless there's a part number on the front of the cam behind the gear, I don't believe you can tell any thing without yanking and measuring the cam.

That's what I figured. I'll just have to take his word.

Often the cam's pn is on the other side too, you can look to see if there is a number on it, or a manufacturers mark or something. You could take the bolt off and check if you want to, just make sure you retorque it properly and use red locktite when you put it back
