Shifter
the throw is sort of preset by the gearbox linkages,
the 2 options i know of are shortening the stick or using an aftermarket shifter like a Hurst.
the hurst wontshorten the throw a lot, but feels like a smaller gap from the 1-2 vertical to the 3-4 vertical. A bit tighter all round.
fitting is easiest on a hoist but not impossible from the floor if you put the car on jack stands.

I have a fancy ladee-da Hurst on my Toploader, works great, but I had to cut the side out of the trans tunnel for it to clear, since this particular one sits off to the side. But man, it WORKS
