Registration question.
So I carry around my pinkslip inthe glovebox in my car. A cop told me that this is a bad idea because any thief can just break in, sign my name, and the car will be legally theirs. I thought that the pinkslip was the registration. Is there another sheet that is?
In the Commonwealth of Virginia, we don't actually have a "pink slip". We are required to keep the "Registration" in the vehicle. But certainly not the "Title" to the vehicle. Anytime I've purchased or sold a car the Owner signed over the Title to the Buyer (both people had to sign). I'm guessing the "pink slip" everyone always refers to is the Title?
I imagine every DMV is different.

Yes, keep that pink slip locked in a filing cabinet at HOME!! The registration is the card you get from DMV that has your sticker for your liscence plate(at least in California) with the vehicle info on it
